Atlanta's Culture Channel
Founder

Brandon Butler

Founder and CEO of ButterATL, host of Butternomics.

ButterATL's founder built the platform from the ground up in Atlanta. Here's what he does now, how he got here, and where that knowledge of the city shows up in the work.

Before Butter

Brandon Butler spent almost two decades in marketing before he built ButterATL, including roles at Accenture and Edelman, plus an MBA from Georgia Tech. ButterATL launched in 2017 in Atlanta. Brandon founded it and runs it as CEO. The career came first. The company came after, and it's the newer number of the two.

On air and on the ground

Brandon hosts Butternomics, a podcast on the business of culture, where he sits across from the founders, creatives, and operators building Atlanta's economy and gets it on the record. He also shows up weekly on WSB-TV Channel 2 with Fred Blankenship for the Weekend Pack, telling the city what to do with its weekend before the weekend gets here.

Beyond the feed

Brandon is part of The 404 Collective, the group behind 404 Day Weekend alongside Atlanta Influences Everything, Finish First, and Trap Music Museum. That work has been recognized by the City of Atlanta, the State of Georgia, and the U.S. Congress. He founded the 404 Fund, the nonprofit that runs scholarships, grants, and civic work off the back of the day. He created the Creatives of Color Summit. He also teaches college courses, carrying the same lens on culture and business into the classroom.

Selected work

Three projects carry his fingerprints directly. Krystal brought Butter in to redesign its Northside Drive flagship: murals, custom neon, a jukebox stocked with Atlanta artists, built alongside The Spice Group. See the work

For 404 Day, Butter worked inside The 404 Collective with Adidas and The Athlete's Foot on the limited-edition 404 Superstar, handling design collaboration, cultural context, and the launch platform. See the work

Georgia Tech brought Butter in to produce the dunk showcase and book talent and judges for Hoops and Hip Hop at McCamish Pavilion, the night the Yellow Jackets opened their season ahead of a post-show set from NLE Choppa. See the work

Recognition

Brandon has been named to Atlanta Magazine's Atlanta 500, its list of the city's most influential leaders, in multiple years.

Where that knowledge shows up

That knowledge of Atlanta runs through the paid side of the business. It's the foundation of Atlanta cultural strategy, Butter's work for brands making real decisions about the city, and of Atlanta Market Partner, built for teams that already have an agency on the campaign. It's also why Butternomics runs as a full property, built on real conversations with the people shaping Atlanta. More on the team behind all of it: About.
