11 Things We Wanna See from Trae Young at the 2022 NBA All-Star Game

Butter ATLFebruary 18, 2022

It’s undeniable that Trae Young, the Atlanta Hawks’ point guard who’s put our underdog team on his back for a good portion of the season, is an up-and-coming superstar to watch.

At just 23 years old, the Oklahoma-born baller is cool on the court like a seasoned veteran, and with just three years in the league is already putting up stats that are comparable with some heavy hitters.

And don’t let the birthplace fool you; we still rep that Ice Trae jersey like homeboy was born and raised in College Park, because he puts on for the city, like collaborating with iconic music powerhouse So So Def for his Adidas sneaker drop, or when he announced that the future, is indeed, Atlanta

So when we heard he was heading to the NBA All-Star Games this weekend as the 6th player in Hawks history to start in an All-Star Game multiple times as an Atlanta Hawk, we knew it meant something special. That’s why we put together a list of 11 things we absolutely, positively, without a shadow of a doubt need to see from the Ice Man himself while he’s out there reppin’ us!

Hit the court while blasting Kryptonite like he’s heading into a WWE match

Because let’s be honest, Knuck If You Buck is too obvious at this point, and the Purple Ribbon All-Stars be on it all night and all day.

Drop another new sneaker line

Them Adidas Trae Young 1’s are ice cold, and this is the perfect chance for him to hit the court with his next drop.

Take Lil’ Baby from James Harden

Look, Lil Baby and Harden might be two of the most random rapper-athlete besties to come out in a while. And we don’t knock it, honestly. But Trae better snatch Lil Baby up and remind him that he’s from the A!

Surprise everybody by rockin’ a buzzcut

…Or some Mystikal braids. We’ll accept either.

Slap Kevin Durant and take back his admiration

We know Young looked up to KD growing up, but it’s time to snatch the crown, dammit!

…Or just hug all up on KD, to get him back for… that one moment

Rock the most extravagant, flashy jewelry possible

Don’t act like an iced-out “ATL” chain around his neck wouldn’t be a game changer.

Find a way to shout out the politics on the streets right now

He could have a raised-fist moment like Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the ‘68 Olympics, a kneeling situation akin to Kaepernick, or simply rock a “Black Lives Matter” shirt during warm-ups. Either way, he’s gotta do something for Black History Month.

Be top shotta in the game

Okay, we know this one’s pretty basic. But it’s straightforward: show them why ATLiens reign supreme (and prove that the Hawks just might have a revival era in the next season) by scoring the most points.

Rock a tall white T-shirt and shorts down to his ankles in the post-game conference

For the culture, of course.

Shout out Butter.ATL for always keeping ATLiens up to date on his latest moves ?

We know this one’s just plain selfish, but have you seen our newsletter? We love keeping the A knowledgeable about the ATL Hawks!
